New Board Nominees Needed For Three Board Seats - Voting in November In order to ensure continuity in the long term, the nine member PADZ Board limits terms to three years, thus freeing up three seats every year for new Board Members. Though we are a new organization, we are instituting this yearly refreshing of the Board at our first Annual Meeting in November. By becoming a member of the PADZ Board you can help shape the development of the organization, and take an active part in the development of dog parks in Encinitas. If you are interested in joining the PADZ Board please email us, and come to our next PADZ meeting on September 13th. At next Park & Rec meeting Sept. 17th The dog park subcommittee will present a priority list of 5 or 6 potential dog park sites, based on desirability and availability, narrowed down from over 20 sites, to the rest of the committee. The recommended sites will then be passed on to the City Council for further consideration, and eventually agendized for a public meeting. These sites are a result of working with PADZ and perusing the City for feasible locations of at least two acres that the City owns and are not earmarked for other uses and do not conflict with other park uses. Your City Vote Will Count Look for the position of Encinitas City Council candidates on dog parks in the October newsletter, as well as other information on voting issues that may impact the future of dog parks in Encinitas.! A Message From The Chair It seems that PADZ, along with a lot of other groups, was sliding through the end of summer. With September upon us we are gearing up for elections, both ours and the City Councils. We want to make sure that the new City Council is not just dog friendly, but also dog park friendly!!! Be sure you know where the candidates stand on this issue! We presently have a City Council that is gung ho for dog parks. Let's keep it that way!! PADZ will also be having it's first election at our annual meeting
in November. Three board positions will be open. I do want to express
my appreciation for all that this board has accomplished this year.
While it would be wonderful if we had worked out all the kinks, that
really is unrealistic for a new organization. The board has done an
excellent job putting together our foundation. Now we need the help
of our membership to make sure our voice is heard at City Hall, that
our membership continues to grow, and that we work to fulfill our mission. You can help! Write to local newspapers and politicians. Attend municipal meetings when dog parks are being discussed. Help educate fellow park users on dog park etiquette.
